Nascut in 1936 Yves a lucrat pentru Christian Dior de la varsta de 17 ani, apoi, in 1962, si-a infiintat propriul label. A fost primul designer care a folosit modele de culoare in prezentarile lui, a creat faimosul "le smoking" pentru femei si , in 2001, presedintele Jacques Chirac i-a acordat Legiunea de Onoare in grad de comandant.
