The most furious, most magnificent or the mightiest of them all, no matter what adjectives one gives to them, the sorrow truth about Tigers today is that these wild creatures are no longer safe in their very own natural habitat. Almost near to extinction in India only 1411 of them are left.
It comes across as a shocker to me especially, as being related to travel industry I often talk about our rich geographical diversity. Calling India home to a diverse flora and fauna I often take pride in counting the hundreds of sanctuaries spread across the nation. “But, what use is an animal sanctuary without animals?” Is a question that is stuck in my mind ever since I first saw M. S. Dhoni advertising about the sorrowful digits that denote our tiger population now-a-days.
The world has seen it before three of the subspecies of tigers, the Bali, Javan and Caspian tiger have already extinct over past 70 years and we are only left with five known as Siberian, South China, Indochinese, Bengal and Sumatran. The state is shocking and sad, but is something we all have somehow contributed to.
Till now we lived in a state of oblivion paying marginal importance to our natural surroundings however, the fact remains that human beings are completely dependent on Nature. Thus ignoring the significance of our natural surroundings and demolishing our forests can lead to a catastrophe if not monitored or regulated from the present times.
The alarming decrease in tiger populations is one of the biggest jolt that has the calibre of shaking our ecosystem altogether. Thus to improve the situation measures should be taken right away, even the slightest of efforts will count…donate money, volunteer yourself or simply post blogs to begin with.
Every year we, the travel companies acquire big bucks from nature touristy business as we have our forests to back us up. People from round the world are stunned to know of a country blessed with hundreds of national parks which are described to be having great populations of tigers.
To great extent tourism industry flourishes on the existence of these verdant forests and the residing wild predators. In order to improve the conditions, contribution from travel industry is something that even Mother Nature is looking forward to.
